STEPPING STONE'S FIRST ANNUAL
SUMMER KID SWAP MEET
Reconciliation with our Indigenous neighbors is an important step in building strong community ties. Stepping Stone Preschool would like to take a moment to acknowledge that our school has been situated upon the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam peoples for nearly 45 years and we thank them for sharing this land with us.
Saturday, AUGUST 17th, 2019
11 AM to 3 PM
Join us for an afternoon of fun in the parking lot of St. Faith’s Church. In addition to giving you an opportunity to view our school and meet our wonderful teachers, we are doing a major classroom purge and will have children’s toys and other items for sale inside. The parking lot will be turned into a large, outdoor kid swap meet where families wishing to sell their new or used infant, child and youth items can rent a space to do so. Families will retain 100% of the profit from their own sales, while the preschool will retain only the rental fees. Funds raised will be used to purchase new toys and classroom materials for our non-profit preschool. For more information on what you will be permitted to sell, please see the lists of acceptable and unacceptable items below. Bookings MUST be made in advance. We advise you to book early as vendor spaces for these types of events tend to fill up quickly.

Reserve Your Space Now
Send us your name, phone number and email address and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Once you submit your information, applicants will be contacted in the order of which the emails were received. We will give you 24 hours to respond and send payment before we move to the next person on our wait list.
Kid Swap Space Rental Details:
As we will be using the parking spaces as dividers, the vendor spaces will be the size of a standard parking stall (approximately 9 x 18 ft). The fee is $15 per stall - if you wish to have more than one stall, we will ensure these are side by side so you can extend your sale space. The preschool will provide one table per stall (free of charge) but you are responsible for bringing any chairs and additional stands if you wish to have any. There are 22 parking stalls and a center aisle where we can fit several more sale spaces). We can only accommodate 25 rental requests. The bookings are first come first serve and payment must be received before the space is officially reserved. Please send an email using the contact form above and we will get back to you within 48 hours. Once we are fully booked up, we will keep a wait list and notify you via email and phone in the event of a cancellation. Prior to August 15th, you will be given 24 hours to respond. If the cancellation occurs on August 15th, 16th or 17th, the first applicant to respond to the email/phone offer will be given the space as we must fill them as soon as possible.
Cancellation requests received no later than Wednesday, August 14th at 7 PM will qualify for a full refund. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued for cancellations or no-shows. If adequate notice was given for a cancellation, the refund will be issued shortly after the event.
1. Do I have to wash clothing and/or linens before selling them?
While we cannot enforce this, we kindly ask you to consider whether you would want to purchase items that have not been washed. Use your own judgement - if it is dirty or has been sitting in storage, please consider giving the items a quick wash and dry!
2. What happens if I am unhappy with an item I purchase from a vendor at the swap?
Stepping Stone Preschool is not responsible for the items sold by a participating vendor. For larger purchases that cannot be assessed further until plugged in or assembled at home (ie. video game consoles, baby furniture, etc.), we recommend asking the seller if they would be willing to provide a phone number or email in case an issue arises. It will be up to them whether they wish to honor a refund/return policy of their own. There are electrical outlets inside the preschool that we will try to make accessible for those wishing to ensure an electronic is in good working condition.
3. What happens if I am unhappy with an item I purchase from the Stepping Stone Preschool sale area?
We encourage you to check all items before purchasing to ensure toys or game pieces are not missing or broken. We cannot issue refunds because we will not be keeping track of prices at which items are sold, nor will we be issuing receipts. However, we understand that things can be overlooked in the chaos of a busy event, so please do not hesitate to send us an email and we will try our best to come up with a solution that works for both parties.
4. What if I bring a banned/prohibited item?
Accidents happen! Don't stress about it. If we see anything on our list of prohibited items (or anything that appears unsafe or inappropriate for this sale that is not listed), we have the right to ask you to remove it from your vendor area and no further actions need to be taken. However, if you continue to display items that are not allowed, we will have to ask you to pack up early.
5. Will food and/or drinks be provided at the event?
We will not be providing food at this event, but in this summer heat it is important to remain hydrated! We will have a water table set up inside and outside for those of you who need it. We will have some cups available, but please bring a reusable cup or water bottle if possible. If you bring your own food, please enjoy it outside. Our preschool is a nut free zone and we ask that you are mindful of any foods/allergens that could pose a hazard to our kids if accidentally left behind on playground equipment and tables. Thank you!
5. Are there bathrooms and/or change tables available?
We have bathrooms inside the preschool that will be made accessible to the public. There are two small washroom stalls and one larger wheelchair-accessible bathroom. We unfortunately do not have a change table, but if you need assistance with finding a safe space to change your baby please find one of our volunteers and we will do our best to help!
5. Breastfeeding at the event:
This is a breastfeeding friendly event and you may feed your infant or child wherever you feel comfortable. We will try to set up an area inside for breastfeeding parents who prefer more privacy, but we cannot guarantee a totally separate room at this point.
5. Safe, Accessible & Inclusive Environment:
Stepping Stone Preschool strives to create a completely safe an inclusive environment for individuals, regardless of race, age, culture, ability, ethnicity or nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, and socioeconomic status. Although we are located in a church, our school is play-based and not affiliated with any religious groups. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your experience a more positive one!
(Note: there is an elevator to the preschool, but this will require special access so please approach one of our volunteers if you require this)
6. Is there an admission fee for buyers?
There is no minimum admission fee but we would be more than grateful for any donations you could make to our school. We will have several donation boxes set up at the event. If you wish to make a larger contribution, please see one of our volunteers or email our school at any time. We are a non-profit organization and rely solely on fundraisers, grants and tuition fees to survive. Unfortunately, since we are not a charity, we cannot provide tax receipts for charitable donations.
